Surface Coatings and Treatments for Controlled Hydrate Formation: A Mini Review

Gas hydrates (GHs) are known to pose serious flow assurance challenges for the oil and gas industry. Neverthless, over last few decades, hydrates-based technology has been explored various energy- environmentally related applications. For both applications, a controlled formation of GHs is desired. Management hydrate by allowing them form within pipelines in their complete mitigation preferred. Moreover, environmental, benign, non-chemical methods accelerate rate demand. This review focused on progress made decade use surface coatings treatments control at atmospheric pressure realistic conditions high pressure. It can be inferred that chemistry (hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity) morphology play significant role deciding adhesion given surface.
